Features

The AVMATRIX DE21-4K PRO is a professional 4K HDMI Full NDI encoder and decoder for high-quality AV-over-IP and broadcast workflows. Unlike the DE20-4K NDI, this model supports Full Bandwidth NDI instead of NDI|HX, allowing video images to be transmitted over a Gigabit network with minimal compression, lower latency, and maximum image quality.

The DE21-4K PRO can both encode HDMI signals to Full NDI and decode NDI streams back to HDMI. Additionally, the device features PoE, analog audio input and output, an LCD status display with tally indication, and extensive configuration options via a web interface.

Operation

The DE21-4K PRO functions as both an encoder and a decoder .

In encoder mode, an HDMI signal is converted in real time into a Full Bandwidth NDI stream . This stream can be used directly within NDI workflows with software such as OBS Studio, vMix, TriCaster, Vizrt, BirdDog, Kiloview, or other NDI-compatible systems. Thanks to the HDMI loop output, the original video signal remains available for local monitoring or pass-through.

In decoder mode, the device receives a Full NDI stream over the network and converts it to an HDMI signal up to UHD 4K60. This allows video signals to be easily distributed over existing networks without long HDMI cables or separate video arrays. The built-in web interface makes configuring encoder and decoder settings simple.

Limits

Although the DE21-4K PRO is very powerful, there are a few points to consider:

• Supports Full Bandwidth NDI and not NDI|HX ; all connected systems must support Full NDI.

• Can execute one NDI encode or one NDI decode simultaneously; both functions are not active at the same time.

• Uses a Gigabit Ethernet connection ; a high-quality network with sufficient bandwidth is recommended for stable 4K60 NDI workflows.

• Supports HDMI video only; SDI sources require an external converter.

• There is no built-in recorder or streaming encoder for RTMP/SRT; the focus is entirely on Full NDI conversion.

• There is no built-in video switcher or scaler present.
