Features

The AVMATRIX SHARK S6 is a compact 6-channel video switcher for livestreams, events, presentations, and multi-camera productions. The switcher combines professional SDI and HDMI connections with integrated streaming, recording, PTZ camera control, and a built-in 5-inch multiview display.

With four 3G-SDI inputs and two HDMI inputs, you can easily switch between multiple video sources. Thanks to the integrated encoder, the SHARK S6 can stream directly via Ethernet and simultaneously record to a USB stick or SD card. Furthermore, via the USB-C connection, the switcher functions as a UVC webcam for use with popular streaming and video conferencing platforms.

Operation

The SHARK S6 processes up to six video sources that can be switched directly via the buttons on the front panel or the built-in T-Bar.

The integrated 5-inch LCD screen displays a clear multiview with all video sources, preview, program output, and the status of streaming and recording. This makes the switcher easy to operate even without an external monitor.

For livestreams, the SHARK S6 supports direct network broadcasting with RTMP, RTMPS, RTSP, and SRT. Simultaneously, the program output can be recorded to an SD card or USB storage medium in MJPEG format.

Via the USB-C connection, the switcher functions as a standard UVC webcam, allowing it to be used with software such as OBS Studio, vMix, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype, and VLC without additional drivers.

Additionally, the SHARK S6 supports PTZ cameras via VISCA, VISCA over IP, Pelco P/D, and ONVIF, allowing cameras to be controlled directly from the switcher.

Limits

Although the SHARK S6 offers many professional features, there are a few points to consider:

• Video processing is limited to HD resolutions up to 1080p60 ; UHD or 4K productions are not supported.

• Recordings are made exclusively from the program output (PGM); ISO recording of individual camera channels is not possible.

• The switcher does not support NDI workflows.

• Streaming is limited to one simultaneous network stream.

• The built-in screen is intended for monitoring and operation; an external reference monitor is recommended for critical color assessment.
