Features

The FieldCast 2Core Main Cable SM HD, 100 m on drum, is a heavy-duty, single-mode, two-fiber fiber optic cable designed for professional use in AV and broadcast applications. The cable is constructed with single-mode OS2 fibers (9/125) , approximately 6.5 mm in diameter , and is colored with two yellow rings to indicate the single-mode identification. The cable is supplied on a cable reel for controlled winding and unwinding.

Operation

The cable carries optical signals with very low loss levels over longer distances, making it suitable for the transmission of high-bandwidth video data, audio, and other single-mode applications. The robust outer sheath and shielded fibers reduce the impact of mechanical stress, kinks, and wear during mobile or fixed installations. Pre-assembled, robust male connectors at both ends simplify connection to equipment and minimize connection errors.

Application

This heavy-duty fiber optic cable is designed for professional outdoor and indoor installations such as public transport vehicles, events, live productions, broadcast link connections, and network systems where reliable long-distance optical connectivity is required. The construction and connectors are suitable for use in demanding environments with frequent duty cycles and setup/takedown applications.

Limits

The cable is specifically single-mode and therefore not directly suitable for multimode applications without appropriate equipment. Compatibility with specific fiber interfaces and connector standards must be verified beforehand. Despite its heavy-duty construction, careful handling is still required to prevent damage to the fiber and connectors.
