The AVMATRIX SHARK S8X NDI is a professional 8-channel live production switcher for broadcast, livestreaming, events, education, and hybrid AV productions. The switcher combines SDI, HDMI, and NDI|HX workflows with integrated streaming, recording, PTZ camera control, and a comprehensive audio mixer.

With eight 3G-SDI inputs, two 4K HDMI inputs, multiple program outputs, and support for NDI|HX2 output and NDI|HX3 input , the SHARK S8X NDI forms a flexible heart for both traditional and IP-based productions.

Operation

The SHARK S8X NDI processes up to ten video sources (8 SDI + 2 HDMI) and switches them in real time to one or more program outputs.

In addition to traditional SDI and HDMI signals, the switcher also supports NDI|HX network video . According to the manufacturer, this model supports:

• NDI|HX2 for sending (Push Streaming)

• NDI|HX3 for receiving (Pull Streaming)

This allows NDI|HX cameras, software sources, and other IP video streams to be easily integrated into existing production workflows.

Streaming is possible via:

• NDI|HX

Additionally, the production can be recorded directly to USB storage, an SD card, or an internal 2.5-inch SATA drive.

Limits

Although the SHARK S8X NDI offers extensive network functionality, there are a few points to consider:

• The manufacturer mentions support for NDI|HX only; support for Full NDI (High Bandwidth NDI) is not mentioned.

• NDI functionality is limited to NDI|HX2 for output and NDI|HX3 for input as specified by AVMATRIX.

• SDI video supports a maximum of 1080p60 ; only the HDMI inputs accept 4K signals.

• When using 4K HDMI sources, these are processed internally for HD production workflows.

• The switcher does not support ISO recording of individual camera channels.
