Operation

The ATEM 4 M/E Constellation IP Plus processes live video streams entirely via SMPTE ST-2110 IP networks. Through redundant 100G Ethernet connections, dozens of UHD video channels can be processed simultaneously with maximum reliability and minimal latency.

Each 100G connection supports multiple video inputs and outputs simultaneously and utilizes SMPTE-2022-7 Seamless Protection Switching. This involves transmitting dual video streams in parallel via separate network paths. The switcher automatically reconstructs the correct signal based on the first received data packets, virtually preventing video dropouts.

All video sources are automatically converted to the configured switcher standard thanks to built-in standards converters on every input. This allows various HD and UHD formats to be used simultaneously within the same production.

The switcher is controlled via the ATEM Software Control application or optional hardware control panels.
