Operation

The ATEM Television Studio 4K8 combines live switching, streaming, recording, and audio mixing in one compact broadcast solution. Cameras and other video sources can be connected directly via the 12G-SDI inputs, with each input automatically converted to the switcher's video standard.

The built-in hardware encoder enables direct livestreaming to platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch without an external encoder. Additionally, the switcher can function as a webcam via USB for software such as Zoom, Teams, OBS, and Skype.

With integrated multiview, all video sources, preview, program output, audio meters, and streaming status can be viewed simultaneously on a single monitor. Thanks to the built-in recording functionality, productions can be saved directly to USB storage or cloud storage.

The switcher also supports advanced effects such as chroma key, DVE transitions, SuperSource picture-in-picture layouts, and graphic overlays via the built-in media players.

Key features

UHD 4K live production

The switcher supports UHD 4K60 via all 12G-SDI connections and processes signals in 10-bit 4:2:2 RGB quality.

Streaming and webcam output

Direct streaming via RTMP is possible using the built-in hardware encoder. Additionally, the USB output functions as a webcam output for videoconferencing and streaming software.

Chroma key and effects

With 4 Advanced Chroma Keyers, the system supports professional green screen workflows. Additionally, DVE effects, wipes, stingers, and picture-in-picture layouts are available.

SuperSource

The built-in SuperSource processor adds 4 extra DVE layers for complex multilayer compositions and interview layouts.

Media pool and graphics

The integrated media players support graphics with alpha channel for titles, overlays, and animations.

Recording and cloud workflows

Recordings are stored internally in H.264 with AAC audio. Files can be shared via Blackmagic Cloud for remote post-production.
