Operation

During a live production, the ATEM Television Studio HD8 ISO records all 8 SDI inputs separately as individual video files. Additionally, the program output is recorded as a separate master file. All files are assigned corresponding timecode and synchronization, making them easy to use later in multi-camera editing.

The ISO model automatically creates a DaVinci Resolve project. This immediately converts the live switching into an editable timeline. You can adjust the editing afterwards, replace cameras, apply color correction, mix audio, and add visual effects.

The switcher also supports remote camera workflows. Compatible Blackmagic cameras can stream live to the switcher via H.264, including tally, camera control, and program audio return. This makes the switcher suitable for productions where cameras are not physically located in the same place.

Key features

ISO capture and post-processing

All 8 inputs are recorded as separate H.264 video files with AAC audio. Additionally, the program output is saved separately as a master file. The automatically generated DaVinci Resolve project opens the live circuit as an edit timeline.

Chroma key and effects

With 4 ATEM Advanced Chroma Keyers, the switcher is suitable for green screen productions. The keyers offer features such as color picking, edge control, flare control, and foreground color correction.

SuperSource

SuperSource adds 4 extra DVE layers and a background layer as a single composite source. This is useful for picture-in-picture layouts, interviews, panels, and graphic compositions.

Multiview

The multiview displays inputs, preview, and program on a single HDMI or SDI monitor. The layout is customizable for up to 16 simultaneous windows, including tally, labels, and audiometers.

Streaming

The built-in hardware encoder enables livestreaming to platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch via Ethernet or mobile data via smartphone tethering.

Recording and storage

Recordings can be stored on external USB drives or on the internal M.2 storage. This allows the switcher to also function as shared cloud storage within a local network.
