Blackmagic Media Player 10G
Features
The Blackmagic Media Player 10G is a professional capture and playout interface for Thunderbolt computers, designed for broadcast, replay, live graphics, and video editing. The system combines 12G-SDI capture , multiple 12G-SDI playout outputs , 10G Ethernet , monitor outputs, and laptop power via a single central workflow.
Key features:
Thunderbolt 3 connection
1× 12G-SDI input
4× 12G-SDI output
1× 12G-SDI loop output
1x HDMI monitor output
10G Ethernet
Support for fill and key playout
Simultaneous capture and playback
RS-422 deck control
Compatible with DaVinci Resolve, Media Composer, Premiere Pro, and other software
The Blackmagic Media Player 10G is developed for workflows where live input, real-time processing, and professional playout need to be combined.
Operation
The Media Player 10G connects to a computer via Thunderbolt 3 and provides video input and output, network access, and, in certain workflows, power over a single high-speed connection. This allows a laptop or workstation to be used as a central graphics engine, replay system, or capture/playout station.
The unit supports:
12G-SDI capture up to UHD 2160p60
Dual 12G-SDI fill and key playback for broadcast graphics
Simultaneous input and output in real time
Access to shared storage via 10G Ethernet
Monitoring via separate 12G-SDI and HDMI monitor outputs
For broadcast graphics, RGBA or YUVA files can be processed, where the hardware converts the video signal to 10-bit fill and the alpha information to a separate 10-bit key output . This makes the system suitable for lower thirds, stingers, and transparent overlays in live productions.
Application
The Blackmagic Media Player 10G is suitable for:
Broadcast playout
Replay and slow-motion workflows
Live graphics and key/fill output
News editing and fast editing
Capturing SDI sources to a computer
Real-time video editing and color correction
Use with shared storage via 10G Ethernet
Integration into broadcast automation systems via RS-422
The system is particularly interesting for environments where capture, playout, monitoring, and network access need to come together in one compact interface.
Limits
Functions as an interface for a computer and is not a standalone recorder or player
Thunderbolt 3 computer required
Compatible software is required for optimal use of fill/key and replay.
The HDMI output is intended as a monitor output and not as a full-fledged additional program output.
Rack mounting requires a separate rack shelf accessory.
