The Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Replay Editor combines both replay and multicam editing functions into a single hardware control panel for live sports and news broadcasts. Multiple buttons let you switch inputs, set points of interest, enable an automatic stinger, and more. The panel connects to your existing network via Bluetooth 5.1 LE technology. A large internal battery keeps the panel going during long production days and can be turned on and off via an on-board power switch. Charge the battery or use a separately available power supply via the USB-C port.
View live input
Change the viewer to a direct input from video hardware, such as a multiview switcher.
Set point of interest
To mark an event during the broadcast, press the POI button or the space bar when the desired input is selected. This will set the POI time based on the timecode of the input, switch to the source view, and mark the POI.
Go to end
If you get distracted while editing the selected clip and miss an event, press “Go to End.” This will take you to the end of the recently recorded media, allowing you to scroll back to see what happened.
Find the best angle
DaVinci Resolve can play back all camera angles simultaneously in a multiview configuration, allowing you to use the Replay Editor and find the best shot for the replay.
Car Stinger
Enable an auto stinger before starting a replay to automatically play a stinger before or after the clip plays. You can select different stingers using the title keys.
Setting up transitions
When playing a replay, use the cut and fade buttons to select the type of transition you want. Each time you select a new camera, you will see your chosen transition.
Start replay
The Run button starts a replay and turns on the key channel output, causing the switcher to display the playback and start the automatic stinger. It also starts logging when the replay is added to the timeline.
Set display speed
Perform live speed changes using the slider to slow down the playback speed on both the viewer and timeline. When you slow all the way down to a stop, you can navigate through the paused area using the seek button.
Switch between cameras
Use the camera buttons to switch between up to 16 sources during playback. The viewer will continue to display a multiview and the selected camera will be sent to the video output.
Sequence recordings
During playback, pressing a time button and a camera button will cause DaVinci Resolve to jump to the selected time before the POI.
Stop repetition
The dump button stops the replay and adds the shots to the timeline if one is selected. It can also perform the automatic stinger.
New timelines
The new timeline button saves the current timeline and opens a new one with a similar name. This allows you to efficiently create a new timeline for each looping clip.
