Features

The AVMATRIX DE20-4K is a versatile 2-in-1 HDMI encoder and decoder for professional AV-over-IP, livestreaming, video distribution, and monitoring. The device can both convert HDMI signals to IP streams and decode IP streams into HDMI video. This makes the DE20-4K suitable for a wide range of applications, from livestreaming and remote productions to point-to-point video connections and IPTV installations.

The encoder supports HDMI input up to 4K60 , while both encoding and decoding take place up to 4K30 . Additionally, the DE20 features local recording to SD card, USB storage, or NAS, USB capture, PTZ camera support, an OLED status display, and support for PoE .

Operation

The DE20-4K can be used as both an encoder and a decoder.

In encoder mode , an HDMI signal is encoded into an IP stream and transmitted over the network. Supported protocols include SRT , RTMP(S) , and RTSP , allowing direct streaming to streaming platforms, media servers, or a second DE20 decoder. At the same time, the original HDMI signal remains available via the HDMI loop output and can be recorded locally to an SD card, USB stick, or NAS.

In decoder mode, the DE20 receives an IP stream over the network and converts it to an HDMI output of up to 4K30. This allows video distribution over an existing IP network without the use of traditional HDMI extenders. Additionally, the decoder supports USB Video over IP, PTZ control, and audio output.

Limits

Although the DE20-4K is very versatile, there are a few points to consider:

• HDMI input supports 4K60 , but encoding and decoding are limited to 4K30 .

• The standard model does not support NDI ; the DE20-4K-NDI is required for this.

• Only one HDMI source can be processed at a time.

• There are no SDI connections available; an external converter is required for SDI sources.

• There is no integrated video switcher or scaler present.

• Wireless network connections are not supported; communication takes place exclusively via Gigabit Ethernet.
